Marine Protection and Indemnity

Protection and Indemnity, in general terms, is a legal liability insurance for ship owners or ship operators, providing them with protection against claims under local and international laws. Lambert Brothers handles over 3 million GT and is one of the largest P&I brokers.

P& I has seen various changes, in the way of limitation of cover limits, deductible levels and the method of levying premium. Most importantly, however, has been the growth in the establishment and operation of fixed premium facilities who are prepared to provide similar but limited cover in competition to the International Group Clubs. Additional we are seeing a trend for the International Group Clubs to seek mergers with major hull insurers in order to diversify their product base and seek some protection themselves, should the International Group Clubs not stay together once its current agreement expires in a few years time.

Our service extends beyond just P&I and includes related products, such as Freight Demurrage & Defence, Containers, NVOC, SOL, Charterers Liabilities and indeed any form of legal exposure that is related to marine transportation.
